What is EVCCON?
The 2nd Annual Electric Vehicle Conversion Convention (EVCCON) is here, running from September 26 to September 30, but what exactly is EVCCON? Is it a gathering of people interested in electric vehicles or looking to find out about the coming electric vehicle boom?
Not even close.
EVCCON is the cutting edge convention that brings together the greatest minds in the electric vehicle industry, the brain trust that are helping to design and build the future of travel, travel that isn’t dependent on fossil fuel. Companies like Red Point Engineering (RPE), that build and design electric cars and EV technology, technology that will drive us into the future in an environmentally friendly, cost effective way. The convention is focused on educating and sharing the wealth of knowledge amongst peers shaping the OEM industry. Last year over 100 industry innovators attended, bringing 28 vehicles together in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. This year, EVCCON is back, bigger and better than ever, once again at the Show-Me Center Arena in Cape Girardeau.
Day 1 at EVCCON with RPE (Wed, Sep 26th):
We have arrived at picturesque Cape Girardeau, MO, in the heart of the United States, not far from the Mississippi River, the life vein of America. Cape Girardeau, MO offers the perfect setting for EVCCON, as it’s the business and education hub of the MidWest, swelling to a population of over 100,000 people each day, as its 2 universities and business district hum with energy.
While the weather is not cooperating on the first day, as Mother Nature can be fickle, with few thunderstorms here and there and an overcast MidWest sky that looks like it will start sobbing any minute, this is not impacting the enthusiasm of all the wonderful minds who traveled here to attend this year’s EVCCON. They’ve come from all over the world too, as electric vehicles are THE future of travel for the entire globe. We’ve met wonderful, insightful people from all over the States, and from other countries as well, including attendees from Australia, England and our wonderful Neighbor To The North, Canada. It’s exciting to see Registration Plates from all over the country (Oregon, Michigan, Florida, New York and California, to name a few), the entire planet is getting revved up for the EV revolution.
And everyone is so neighborly too. Jack Richardson, EVCCON’s sponsor, has invited us to his EVTV shop, where he is filming his famous EVTV show. We can see his spectacular vehicles, all the exciting work that’s in progress, talk to his staff and ask questions. EVCCON ‘s reception includes a generous welcome package with its “Kick the gas out, one car at the time” theme, and includes a fabulous dinner with an open bar (and great liquor selection). In the evening we camp out at the Drury Lodge, which became THE official hotel for EVCCON this year, which is awesome, because it’s an excellent hotel.
As the day ends, along with many other drained, yet ecstatic attendees, we are heading back to the hotel, equally excited and thrilled by the fun events that are coming up over the next three days!
